Math Club's Spring Season Premiere
Mon, 01/24/2011 - 12:21 — kfoster3
Math Club brings you its 102nd monthly presentation this Friday, January 28, 3:30 p.m., room 209 at Truax.
The presentation is entitled The shortest distance is along a straight line, even when it is not! It is presented by Professor John Frohliger (St. Norbert College, De Pere, WI) during his seventh visit to our campus.
Everyone knows that the shortest distance from point A to point B is along a straight line. But that's just if you're moving along a plane. What if you're moving from one top corner of an open box to the top corner on the opposite side? Or what if you're traveling from one side to a triangle to the other two sides and back? Bring a ruler and let's explore these and other similar questions!
