Make Some Noise for Your Library

It's that time of year again when librarians let the buns in their hair down and give their "shushing" finger some rest to celebrate National Library Week. Madison College Libraries is dedicated to serving our students, staff and faculty and we love it!

Did you know...
-Almost 750,000 visitors walk through the doors of our seven libraries each year-almost 500,000 of them at Truax alone. (+8% in two years)
-Librarians answered almost 78,000 reference and computer questions last year.(+18% in two years) The average at other Tech Colleges in the state is 9,000 per year. Yup, we do that much more.
-Our databases were searched almost 1.4 million times in FY0910. (+12% in two years)
-Instructors brought their classes to the library for 453 classes (over 7,000 students) to the library for information literacy training given by our librarians.(+26% in two years)
-The library has added almost 20 new online services for users in the past two years--including videostreaming, texting, Skype, ebooks, social media pages, text to speech databases, e-reference collections, 100+ online research guides, avatar FAQ's, image databases, mobile web page and more.
-Librarians partnered with the South Central Library System and went out into local public libraries to help over 100 dislocated workers improve their information literacy skills.
-UW-Madison Libraries, Edgewood College, Marquette University, Los Angeles Public Library and UC-Berkeley have all inquired about library services that Madison College already provides!
