Lee National Denim Day Results

    Hello everyone,

    Lee National Denim Day logoThank you so very much for your help with this year’s Lee National Denim Day effort. All totaled, we raised almost $2,900 – that’s $800 more than last year!  All of your efforts across the district are sincerely appreciated, and we wouldn’t have been this successful without you.

    I also want to thank the “behind-the-scenes” folks who contributed toward the fundraising effort:

    -Robin Gee, Tom Helbig, Rhoda McKinney and Donna Swadley who served on the event planning committee

    -Truax bookstore for providing college t-shirts and caps at a significant discount, allowing us to pilot a project at Truax Campus that resulted in increased interest and donations (based on the success of this pilot we hope to make college merchandise available to all campuses during future Denim Day campaigns)

    -Facilities staff for providing our set-up in the Truax cafeteria

    -Pat Prihoda for cutting out all of the “In Memory Of” and “In Honor Of” pockets for display on bulletin boards

    Just to recap what our fundraising efforts will support:

    -Lee Laboratories nationwide, which work to find more effective, less toxic treatments for breast cancer and increase patient access to some of the most significant clinical trials in the nation;

    -A multi-year effort led by world-class scientists to develop a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer when survival rates are the highest, known as the EIF Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project;

    -The Cancer Support Community and its affiliate network nationwide.

    I apologize if I’ve missed anyone. There were so many kind-hearted souls who helped out this year that it’s difficult to keep track of everyone!

    Again – thank you, thank you, thank you!  Together we can truly make a difference in the fight against breast cancer.
