Madison College Students Presented and Attended Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies Student Conference, Mount Mary College, Friday, April 8
This year, Madison College students showed record attendance at the Wisconsin Institute for Peace and Conflict Studies Student Conference at Mount Mary College in Milwaukee, WI.
Presenters included Gabriel Feinstein, "Non-Violence: the 21st Century and Beyond"; Dina Mohamed, "Islam and Peace"; Basoa Afriyie, "Sustainable and Efficient Energy Use in Sub-Saharan Africa"; Ari Mustikawati, "Street Children in Indonesia"; Amin Muhammed, two films, "Rhythm of Life" and "Recyclemania"; Manzoor Alan and Najeeb Ullah, "Effects of Environment on Tourism in Gilgit-Baltistan"; Ali Channa, "Growing Terrorism in Pakistan," Tariq Anjum, "Misconceptions of Islam," Talitha Holvenstot, "Poems about Women and War," and Alaraya Holmberg, poetry, "Everything is Going to Be Alright." Elijah McCloskey's research paper, "The Population Bomb," was one of three selected for the Best Paper award.
Other Madison College students in attendance were Ferit Baris, Phumla Mfukeli, Scott Simonson and Alex Houchin.
All students were from Amy Minett's Global Leadership, Creative Writing, and Peace, Conflict and Literature classes.
