Help Fight Breast Cancer on Lee's Denim Day

Join Denim Day to Raise Money for Breast Cancer Research!

Lee National Denim Day is one of the largest single-day fundraisers and has raised nearly $80 million in the fight against breast cancer. On October 8, join the Madison College community by putting on your jeans and making a minimum $5 contribution to the Women’s Cancer Programs of the Entertainment Industry Foundation (EIF).

Most people have been touched by breast cancer in some way; whether a family member, a friend, or even themselves.

On Lee National Denim Day you can fight back by wearing denim and making a contribution that will support these groundbreaking initiatives:
- Lee Laboratories, a collaboration of six of the nation’s leading research institutions to find more effective, less toxic breast cancer treatments,

- The EIF Breast Cancer Biomarker Discovery Project, which is developing a blood test for earlier detection of breast cancer when survival rates are higher,

- Cancer Support Community and its affiliates nationwide, including Gilda’s Club and The Wellness Community, which provide emotional and social support to all people affected by cancer.

- One in every eight women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime.
- One person is diagnosed with breast cancer every three minutes in the United States.
- In the U.S. there were 192,370 new cases of invasive breast cancer and 40,170 deaths from breast cancer in 2009.
- There are more than 2.5 million breast cancer survivors alive in the U.S. today.

Madison College is now among the 100 most successful Denim Day teams in the country, and a driving force in helping us defeat this disease once and for all. So join the fight – Wear your jeans on October 8 and give generously! Truax campus will be collecting donations in the cafeteria Wednesday through Friday, October 6-8, from 9 a.m. to 3p.m. Other Madison sites and regional campuses will be collecting on Friday, October 8. Donations can also be made online at the Denim Day website. Click on “Participate”, then “Donate to a Team Online”. Then enter Madison College team ID number 225591.
