DTEC Hosted Wisconsin Book Festival Workshops

On Thursday, October 20 at the UW Play Circle Theater, Guy Thorvaldsen performed in a dramatization of the process of writing and performing for radio. He writes for a monthly, syndicated topical show called Minds Eye Radio.
On Saturday, October 22, the English Department and Creative Writing Committee hosted and presented a full day of workshops at the Downtown Education Center. This is the fifth year we have hosted events at the Book Festival--this year offering sessions focused on the craft of writing. Over 200 people attended and we received wonderful reviews from the participants.
John Galligan ran an Editing for Publication workshop and Guy Thorvaldsen presented a workshop on forming and maintaining Writing Groups. Other presenters included renowned author and comic strip writer Linda Barry, former NY times Correspondent Paul Salsini, and Jackie Martindale of Poetry Out Loud.
