CETL Offers Faculty Mentor Training

The Center for Excellence in Teaching and Learning (CETL) is offering a professional development opportunity for faculty members who are interested in mentoring a new faculty member during the 2010-11 academic year. Faculty members who have mentored in the past are encouraged to attend this workshop if they have not done so and want to be a faculty mentor again in the future.

Workshop Description:
Supporting new teachers is important work dedicated to new faculty success. Veteran teachers stepping forward to mentor beginning colleagues need time, mindful preparation, and ongoing support to develop new skills and understandings that will enable them to become effective mentors of teachers new to the profession or to the college.
This workshop will address new faculty needs, mentor roles, effective mentor-mentee relationships, and the Madison College New Faculty Mentoring Program objectives, expectations, and guidelines.
