Center for International Education Seeking Mentors for 2011-12

Center for International Education logoIt’s that time of year again! The Center for International Education is seeking mentors for the 2011-12 Community College Initiative (CCI) program.

This year, we expect to have 12 students from Egypt, India, Indonesia, Pakistan and South Africa. Mentoring an international student is a wonderful way to learn about another culture without leaving the United States. For more details, fill out our interest survey.

Since Fall 2008, Madison College has been a part of the CCI Program, a grant program administered by Community Colleges for International Development in partnership with the Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. The goal of the CCI Program is to provide quality educational programs, professional development, employment skills and a first-hand understanding of U.S. society to underserved, non-elite international young adults. So far, Madison College has hosted 32 CCI students from Brazil, Costa Rica, Egypt, El Salvador, Ghana, India, Indonesia, Pakistan, South Africa, and Turkey.
