Yes, that's the title of Math Club's 98th monthly presentation at 3:30 p.m. on Friday, October 1, in Truax room 209.
If you enjoyed the performance of the calculus dog "Elvis" and the "The Famous Monkey, Sailors and Coconut Problem" presentation, you'll like the "Car and Goats Problem" by University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh Professor Norbert Kuenzi. This will be his seventh presentation at Math Club.
The conditional probability problem known variously as Marilyn's Problem, the Monty Hall Problem, and the Car-and-Goats Problem will be presented and analyzed. The problem appeared in the column "Ask Marilyn" in the September 9, 1990 issue of Parade Magazine. Marilyn's response caused an extensive uproar across the country. Some humorous tales, generalizations, experiments, and variations will be presented and analyzed.
