Arts & Sciences Dean to Leave End of Fall Semester

I am sorry to announce that Arts & Sciences Dean Veronica Delcourt is leaving the College at the conclusion of the fall semester.

Veronica has served as the Dean of Arts & Sciences since July 2007. During this period of time, Arts & Sciences has experienced remarkable enrollment growth requiring extraordinary efforts from Veronica and the staff and faculty in the Arts & Sciences Center. Her leadership allowed the Center to maintain its focus on student success during a time of constant change. The College is grateful for her many contributions to the life of the College.

Upon her departure, Arts & Sciences will be lead by two talented and capable associate deans — Dr. Todd Stebbins and Dr. Shawna Carter. Todd will be named the interim Dean of Arts & Sciences. A national search will begin shortly to identify a permanent Dean of Arts & Sciences. We expect the new Dean to be on campus by the end of the spring semester.

In the meantime, we will conduct an internal search for an interim associate dean as soon as possible. That interim associate dean is expected to serve from December 2010 until at least May 2011. Internal nominations and applications will be solicited shortly. If you are interested or care to nominate a candidate, please watch for upcoming details.

I want to thank and acknowledge Veronica and the associate deans, the outstanding Arts & Sciences PSRP staff, and the entire Arts & Sciences faculty for their efforts to continue providing high quality access to our growing student population during an exciting and stressful time. I ask for your continued support of these colleagues as we make this transition.

Please join me in wishing Veronica the best in all her future endeavors.

    Terry
