Since this was a second career for me, I did not want to go through four years of vet school, so the two-year program at Madison College was perfect.

The classes are much like on-the-job training—my first year I learned to handle the animals and by my second year, I was able to assist with surgeries such as spaying, neutering and dental work.

I have had to really apply myself and I did a lot of studying, but it was really worth it. The instructors are outstanding.

I think technical college is a good choice for many people. I was able to go to school and work in the field at the same time to gain practical experience.
